Falun Gong deportees disappear in China

Xiaoping Hu, a Falun Gong practitioner, was deported from Canada back to China two years ago and hasn't been heard from since. Perhaps part of her has been returned to Canada in the form of a kidney, cornea, heart, or lung–or, more likely than not, in all of those forms.

In his article ["Canada deports to tyranny", Aug. 23-30], Carlito Pablo mentions that China is very controversial because of its policy of organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience. I would like to point out the vast majority [of these prisoners] are Falun Gong practitioners who refuse to renounce their faith.

Canada's David Kilgour, former secretary of state for Asia-Pacific and world-renowned Canadian human-rights lawyer, has conducted a third-party report that confirms that this is not only occurring but that the majority of organs for export come from Falun Gong practitioners.

Lack of press coverage regarding this "new form of evil on the planet" (Falun Gong report coauthor David Matas) is shocking to me and explains in part why Falun Gong practitioners have been holding a vigil 24/7 for the past five years in front of the Chinese Consulate on Granville Street.
