Improv Everywhere: Frozen Grand Central

In an event that can only be described as one part public-art performance and one part elaborate prank, Improv Everywhere rounded up 207 volunteers and had them mix in with the afternoon crowd at Grand Central Station. At an appointed time, the volunteers stopped and remained frozen for five minutes, after which they simultaneously resumed their movements.

As you can see in the following video, and in a series of photos on the Improv Everywhere Web site, passersby were fascinated. Some of them must have felt as if they had taken the 2:15 to the Twilight Zone.
