Bloc Québécois motion to remove clause from Bill C-10 fails, clause of concern to gays and lesbians

A Bloc Québécois motion to remove the controversial clause from Bill C-10 regarding film tax credits failed yesterday in the House of Commons.

While opposition against the Bill has grown, the bill is of concern to groups such as the LGBT community. It could empower homophobic censorship of gay and lesbian content in films.

NDP MP Bill Siksay brought attention to this possibility and urged citizens to e-mail politicians with their concerns.

Siksay, along with Vancouver Centre Liberal MP Hedy Fry, spoke with the Straight's editor Charlie Smith about their concerns about the bill for Movie Notes this week.
