Canucks miss out on the hit parade

Not only did Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow score the winning goal in quadruple overtime yesterday, ending the eighth longest game in NHL history, he was also credited with an astounding 19 hits over the course of the marathon that eliminated the San Jose Sharks and propelled the Stars to the Western Conference Final.

By comparison, Markus Naslund registered 13 hits and Daniel Sedin had 11--all freakin' season. That's a combined 24 hits in 164 games played  by two of the Canucks top players.

If you're a defenceman, who would you rather match-up against shift after shift? Thought so.

The Canucks rarely, if ever, left a mark on their opponents. Morrow left his on the Sharks and the series and his performance Sunday was truly one for the ages.

In one series, Morrow was everything the Canucks were missing this season.
