Vancouver Film School opens Korean office

Premier Gordon Campbell helped open the Vancouver Film School’s new Seoul office on May 18.

Benjamin Colling, director of admissions and student services, said by phone that the school here has about 40 to 60 Korean students every year. But often they don’t know about VFS until after arriving in Vancouver for other reasons.

“Primarily, the office is going to be collaborating and meeting with various art schools in Korea and working together to create a relationship with those schools there so that they understand what we represent here.” Colling said the office will also establish industry ties and provide services to alumni. Colling explained that such international outreach fits into the entertainment-industry trend of projects being worked on in several countries.

The Seoul office is the VFS’s fourth international recruitment office, after Mumbai, Mexico City, and Taipei.
