Campfire ban for Pemberton Festival

Planning on camping during the Pemberton Festival this weekend? Leave your marshmallows at home, because campfires are currently banned in the south of B.C. and won’t be allowed in the festival campgrounds, CBC News reports.

Forestry officials are warning of a high danger rating for forest fires in the region. The Edgewood forest fire, caused by an unattended campfire last Thursday, continues to burn despite the efforts of 60 firefighters, six helicopters, and one air tanker.

Festival campers can still bring small propane stoves for cooking or can buy food from the farmer’s market and food tents at the Pemberton Festival.
