Green party releases candidate list after odd e-mail surfaces

The federal Green party has just released an updated list of B.C. candidates, and it includes several who've run before in Metro Vancouver.

Former  Green candidates Doug Warkentin (Vancouver Kingsway), Michael Wolfe (Richmond), Doug Perry (Burnaby-Douglas), Mike Gildersleeve (Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge-Mission), and Jim Stephenson (North Vancouver) are  on the ballot  again as Green candidates.

In other Lower Mainland ridings, the updated Green list includes Brian Newbold (Fleetwood-Port Kells), Liz Walker (Newton-North Delta), David Blair (South Surrey-White Rock-Cloverdale), and Dan Kashamanga (Surrey North).

The Greens released this information hours after unveiled an embarrassing Green party memo by Sharon Labchuk, the party's director of organizing. Written on September 1, it states that the Greens will take candidates "willing to put their names on the ballot in the event we do not find enough candidates".

Under Canada's election-financing rules, each registered party received approximately $1.75 per vote (adjusted for inflation)  that it collected in each year following the 2006 election.
