Tiko Kerr to join Little Mountain housing art protest

High-profile Vancouver painter Tiko Kerr will be among the artists taking part in Sunday (December 7)'s "art-in"  demonstration at the Little Mountain social housing project at 1 p.m.

The artists will affix their art to the boarded-up windows of vacant housing units,  to protest  the provincial government's plans to demolish the 224 low-income family apartments within the next six months. Only 19 of the units are currently occupied.

Protesters want to see the housing units remain open until the redevelopment of the site, by the Holborn Group, begins in earnest. They say the redevelopment would begin in 2011 at the earliest.
