A video homage to Trevor Linden

Stan Smyl’s number 12 is the only jersey retired in the history of the Vancouver Canucks. But Smyl won’t be lonely for much longer as Trevor Linden’s number 16 is scheduled to be raised to the rafters of GM Place on Wednesday, December 17. I thought it would be fitting to post a little video homage to Captain Canuck, starting with draft day.

Linden’s beautiful goal on the Calgary Flames in 1989.

His monster hit on Jeff Norton.

Not much of a highlight but, the famous “He will play” line from game six in 1994.

The Shift.

Linden scores twice in the 1994 playoffs.

On Canuck Place.

Here is the goal Linden scored in game seven of the 2007 playoff series versus Dallas.

Linden’s last game, played on April 5, 2008.

If you’re one of the lucky people with a ticket to the December 17 Canucks game, you will want to be in your seat by 5:45 p.m. for the raising of Linden’s jersey.
