TransLink commissioner conditionally approves complaints process

TransLink commissioner Martin Crilly has conditionally approved the regional transportation authority’s customer-complaints process.

“The Commissioner’s approval of the current customer complaints process is conditional on TransLink demonstrating over the coming year that it is identifying patterns and trends in customer complaints, reporting them to its respective Boards, and tracking progress in addressing the causes of complaints,” read a press release issued yesterday (January 13) by TransLink.

The position of the commissioner was created after B.C. Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon ordered a rejig of the TransLink board in 2007. Falcon ordered mayors to hire a commissioner in 2008, after the position was left empty.

In December, the Straight reported that the number of public complaints against transit police officers has increased sharply since the provincial government granted them permission to carry firearms.

Today, November 16th, 2010, I was heading South from a red traffic light on the corner of Alma St. and 10th Avenue at 7:50am in Vancouver, when a bus driver on the right turning lane gave me the middle finger. Then he proceeded to point at my girlfriend who was sitting on the passenger seat and making masturbating gestures. I'm considering calling the police and the media about this pervert driving young female students to UBC each morning. Translink will definitely get my complaint. If I was less in shock when it happened, I would have taken a picture of him with my cell phone.
