Vancouver Sun Run not cancelled as part of Canwest cost savings

Blogger and 24 hours columnist Bill Tieleman has obtained a Canwest Publishing memo detailing cost-cutting measures to deal with “significant advertising declines across the board”. They include freezes on hiring, salaries, and travel.

Canwest has also cancelled a plan to put employees in hotels to participate in the Vancouver Sun Run. In an earlier posting, which was deleted after being on this site for less than five minutes, I  mistakenly stated that the Vancouver Sun Run had been cancelled.

This came from a misreading of Tieleman's introduction and the wording of the memo.

I've been informed by the Sun's managing editor, Kirk LaPointe, that the Vancouver Sun Run has NOT been cancelled.
