Vancouver’s theatre community is rallying around local Jessie Award–winning actor and playwright Lorena Gale, who is battling metastatic stomach cancer. Fellow actor Marilyn Norry has helped organize a tribute to Gale that will take place at the Firehall Arts Centre this Monday (February 23) at 7 p.m., in which colleagues will perform staged readings of selected scenes from Gale’s plays Je Me Souviens, Angélique, and The Darwinist. Donations will be collected for the Lorena Fund, Norry said, to be spent at Gale’s discretion.

“We’ll just surround her with a whole lot of love,” Norry added. “This is giving a focus for everybody to do something.”
