River also runs at Social Justice Film Festival

Just a reminder that tonight, the fifth annual Social Justice Film Festival in White Rock kicks off tonight.

The festival will be showing Richard Boyce's Power Play: The Theft of B.C.'s River, which is also playing at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival.

At the White Rock screening, filmmaker Damien Gillis (who Matthew Burrows interviewed in the previously linked article) and Rafe Mair will participate in a post-screening discussion.

Save Our River Society also released a three-minute video made by Gillis and narrated by Mair.

The festival runs until Saturday (February 21). While the film line-up addresses a lot of serious issues, including Chinese sweatshops, coming out as gay or lesbian, and the  2010 Olympics,  the festival will  conclude on a celebratory note with a screening of Pete Seeger: The Power of Song. Banjo player Tom Neighbour will also entertain audiences before and after the show.
