Kokoro Dance's F at the Roundhouse Community Centre

Nobody does creepy like butoh-contorting Kokoro Dance, and that makes the debut of F one of the most enticing shows on the dance calendar this season. Inspired by reading Frankenstein, choreographer Barbara Bourget has devoted five years to the project. The result is a multisensory exploration with three actors, three dancers, three live musicians, horror-movie makeup artistry, and visual effects spread across three giant screens. Its themes also couldn’t be more contemporary: Bourget explores the morality of humankind’s high-tech capacity to create life. Prepare to meet the Creature and the Doctor (inspired by Mary Shelley’s lead characters) and a third figure called Cyborg. Chills for your spine and heavy ideas for your brain. Catch F at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre next week (March 24–28).
