Stargate creators and stunt coordinator to receive Leo achievement awards

B.C.'s Leo Awards will recognize three individuals this year with Outstanding Achievement awards.

The creators of Stargate SG-1 and its spinoff, Stargate Atlantis, Robert C. Cooper and Brad Wright will be honoured for their franchises, which were shot here in Vancouver and have contributed to the B.C. film and television industry.

Stargate Atlantis ran for five seasons and ended in January. A new series Stargate Universe is currently in production and will launch this fall.

Stunt coordinator and stunt actor Jacob Rupp, who hails from North Vancouver, will also receive an Outstanding Achievement Leo Award. During his forty year career, he has worked on Canadian TV series such as The Beachcombers, Neon Rider, and Danger Bay and American series like 21 Jump Street, Highlander, The X-Files, The Outer Limits, and Wiseguy. Feature films he's worked on include Scary Movie 3 and 4, X2: X-Men United, and Fantastic Four.

Previous winners of the Outstanding Achievement award include media personality Terry David Mulligan and actor Babz Chula.

The awards will be given out on May 9.
