Canucks sweep the Blues with Alex Burrows's overtime goal

Alex Burrows scored his second goal of the game late in the first overtime period against the St. Louis Blues, ensuring the Vancouver Canucks will advance to the second round of the playoffs.

The Canucks won four consecutive games in the series, marking the first playoff sweep in the team's history.

Goalie Roberto Luongo stopped 47 shots, including 18 in the overtime period.

The Canucks did not allow a goal in the third period in any of the four games against the Blues.

Sammy Salo and Mats Sundin sat out the fourth game with lower body injuries.

In the next printed edition of the Georgia Straight, sports columnist Jeff Paterson (who also hosts the postgame show on AM 1040) will focus on some Canuck players who were responsible for the team's impressive performance in the series against the Blues. It will be distributed across Metro Vancouver on Thursday (April 23).
