Indie film "Portland" mourns costar David Carradine's death

The cast, crew, and producers of the independent film Portland issued a statement last night to mourn the loss of actor David Carradine, who was set to costar in their production.

Executive producers Adrian Salpeter and Elizabeth Levine of the Vancouver/L.A.–based Random Bench Productions  expressed their condolences to  Carradine's friends and family. "An actor of David Carradine's stature behind our film meant the world to us," they stated in a press release.

Carradine, best known for roles in the '70s TV series Kung Fu and the two Kill Bill films, was found dead in a Bangkok hotel yesterday.

Portland, a drama about three friends who reunite after the death of a friend, was about to begin principal photography and was Carradine's next project. Carradine had been in Thailand filming the movie Stretch.

The production, directed by Matthew Mishory, will now have to begin the process of recasting the role.

IMDb currently lists six films in post-production that the prolific Carradine was involved with.
