Rich Coleman says province will honour three-year gaming grants

The Ministry of Housing and Social Development has announced that it will fully fund organizations that received three-year community gaming grants.

The minister, Rich Coleman, made this clear in a news release issued at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday (September 2).

The news release does not say if the ministry will claw back $10.9 million in gaming-grant funds that have been allocated to the B.C. Arts Council.

The first half of the Georgia Straight went to the printer at 11 a.m. today, so Coleman's announcement missed the deadline for the arts section. Jessica Werb wrote an article on the gaming grants in the arts section  prior to the news release being issued.

In the news section of the Georgia Straight, which will be distributed across Metro Vancouver on Thursday, there's a separate article on the provincial budget. This  piece went to the printer in the mid-afternoon, and it contained information about Coleman's announcement.

I thought this was worth mentioning in case anyone wonders about this after reading both articles.
