Judson Beaumont and Robert Johnston nab B.C. Achievement Awards

Vancouver furniture designer Judson Beaumont is one of four artists who will receive BC Achievement Awards for Applied Arts and Design.

Beaumont, who also speaks and presents his work Thursday night (September 17) at the opening of the IDSWest event at the Vancouver Convention Centre, was recognized for his latest creations that use wood from B.C.'s pine-beetle forests.

The other local recipient is industrial designer Robert Johnston, whose award-winning pieces include the Earthcycle compostable packaging, the Virgo MIR system, and the Ohm Cycle Battery Enclosure.

Famed former Vancouverite and now Pender Island-based jewellery master Karl Stittgen and Nanaimo ceramics artist Lilach Lotan will also be honoured with the $2,500 prize in a ceremony with the premier on September 21.
