Painter David Wilson's Somewhere in the Middle at the Ian Tan Gallery

There are some artists you want to look at in the summer time, and there are some that seem better suited to the wet winter weather. Vancouver painter David Wilson definitely fits into the latter category, and it’s appropriate he should be opening a new exhibit at one of the darkest, rainiest times of year. His show Somewhere in the Middle, up until December 23 at the Ian Tan Gallery, is rife with drizzly, nighttime street scenes of this city, whether it’s the blurry signs and traffic of Granville in You Know It Is Coming (above) or traffic lights cutting through the fog of False Creek at dusk. The artist also ventures into a few daytime landscapes as well, but even they are bathed in grey light.
