Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is one PSP game not worth finding

Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier (Sony; PSP; rated everyone 10+)

At one point, Naughty Dog’s Jak and Daxter games were among the best platformers. With an interesting story, clever writing and acting, and tight level design, they were fun to play.

This game, though, is a disappointment.

The story is overly convoluted, and it is presented, especially in the early goings, as if it were a school lecture. There’s nothing worse than having characters stand around and tell you what the story is in their conversation, and yet that’s exactly how this game sets its stage.

And the action of the game is just as cumbersome, plagued with controls that will have you falling over the edge far too often, blundering your way into enemies.

Even the race and search for precursor orbs isn’t any fun because you’re too busy trying to keep the camera centred behind you as you run around.

It’s too bad, but I wish The Lost Frontier had never been found.
