American Ryan Kesler scores, making it 2-1 Canada in Olympic men's hockey final

Vancouver Canuck Ryan Kesler has deflected a shot past his teammate Roberto Luongo in the Olympic men's hockey final.

Kesler, of course, is playing for the U.S. team and Luongo is tending the net for Canada.

The tip-in of a Patrick Kane shot was Kesler's second goal of the tournament. Canada is leading 2-1 at the end of the second period.

In a between-the-periods interview with CTV, Kesler said that he's feeling good because the Canadians "seem to fade as the game goes on".

"Louie looks like he's fighting the puck," Kesler added, referring to his Canuck teammate.

Just wanted to say how excellent I think the Straight's Olympics coverage is. I never dreamed the Straight could and would cover the city's biggest and most controversial event so freaking thoroughly and moment-to-moment and still maintain its edge. Laughed out loud at Usinger's rant about Pierre too. And love the action photos. Yeah, yeah, I'm totally kissing ass. So bleeping what? SMOOOOOOOCH. Congrats. It's been a blast.

Whoa everybody, you don't think all the jumping up and down in Vancouver might have had something to do with the earthquake in Chile?

I agree Beth.. i have always checked GS first the past 2 weeks.. this website has been awesome, and the staff have been amazing at providing "play by play" reports..Not only that, they were the first to report the earthquake in Chile..
I particularily have enjoyed Brian Lynch's reports right from the event..
Yep. a weekly paper scooping the dailies is a pretty big deal, and GS has just the moxie to do it.
hats off to a great team!

Kelser played an AMAZING game, as he does in every game he plays. He gives his all and he earned a gold medal, even if he didn't win one!

Kessler is a hot headed, arrogant sour puss. Even his own team mates can put up with him.
