Vic Sarin to receive Canadian Society of Cinematographers award

Congratulations to Canadian director and cinematographer Vic Sarin.

The Canadian Society of Cinematographers have chosen Sarin as the recipient of the Kodak New Century Award at the 2009 CSC Awards Celebration on March 27 in Toronto.

Born in Kashmir, India, Sarin has over thirty years of experience as a director of photography. As a cinematographer, he's worked on an extensive number of Canadian films ranging from Loyalties and Whale Music to Bye Bye Blues and Margaret's Museum.

His 2007 drama Partition, about the division of India and creation of Pakistan, was a Straight cover story.

He has previously won numerous awards, including the Kodak Lifetime Achievement Award, and Emmy and Gemini Awards.

Sarin's  latest film  A Shine of Rainbows, a Canada-Ireland coproduction about an orphan adopted by a couple living on an Irish coast, will open in Canada on April 9.
