More awards: Streamy nominations for Riese, Crazy 8s finalists

Because you can never have enough news about awards, here is some more.

The critically acclaimed, locally based Web series Riese garnered four nominations at the second annual Streamy Awards, selected by the International Academy of Web Television.

The sci-fi/fantasy series by UBC MFA film production student Nicholas Humphries, which follows a heroine journeying with her wolf  through the kingdom of Eleysia, is up for best foreign Web series, best cinematography (Christopher Charles Kempinksi), best art direction (Chad Krowchuk), and best sound design (Bill Mellow and Kevin Belen).

Notable names among the nominees include Zach Galifianakis, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Robert Englund, and more.

The winners will be announced on April 11  in Los Angeles.

Elsewhere, six finalists, chosen from over one hundred entries, have finally been chosen from 12 semi-finalists for the Crazy8s filmmaking competition. The teams will make their films over eight days (March 18 to 25) with $800, and the final products will be shown at a gala screening on March 27.

Liz Cairns, "Sad Bear"
Angelina Cantada, "Sikat"
