Iggy Pop retires his signature move

While most people in their early sixties are retiring from the practice of medicine or from their elevator-repair jobs, punk-rock legend Iggy Pop is officially retiring from stage-diving.

The 62-year-old Stooges frontman took a hard dive onto the floor of New York’s Carnegie Hall on February 26 that would land most porous-boned seniors a trip to the geriatric ward and a hip replacement. Alas, partying has been good for the ol’ Pop, but he’s not the resilient young man the world used to know as “the Iguana”.

In an interview with WENN, the aging godfather of punk said he would “make a mental note that Carnegie Hall would be a good place for my last stage dive.”

Iggy and the Stooges will be touring Europe from April 9 until early November this year, but ticketholders can expect a dive-free show.
