Marijuana activists and supporters marched through downtown Vancouver on Saturday (May 1) to send a "smoke signal" to governments that pot prohibition must end.

The Vancouver event was one of many protests held around the world as part of the annual Global Marijuana March.

Thank you georgia straight for the coverage on our march CTV and global news and cbc felt the march was not news worthy.... even though it is basicly the biggest event in vancouver on may 1 2010...
These other media's services seem to always be against us.. people should call them and ask them why they were not there....

Someone ought to tell these protesters that narcotics prohibition is regulated under federal law, and that they're unfortunately protesting in the wrong city. Next time, they should try delivering their message to Ottawa instead.

Simple fix.....arrest those who use the drug (no matter how small). And the problem would go away overnight because most people would not want to be jailed or have their lives ruined with a criminal record.

Plus, this plant is NOT grown sustainably. I guess that doesn't matter to an addict, just as long as they get their fix, right? Think about how much stolen electricity was used to grow that joint, next time you suck on one.

I've got a better idea Guido, instead of putting people who smoke it in jail, how about putting people who feel threatened by harmless plants in the psych ward where they can get the help they so obviously need?

Hey Birdy, Don't be a jerk just because someone disagrees with you!

Sorry joker, but when people crusade for the enslavement of peaceful loving people because they like to indulge in a harmless plant that makes them giggle, I am conscientiously required to get jerky with it. I will forever extend the hand of jerkiness to proponents of tyranny.

And I will strike down upon thee with great sarcasm and furious wit, those who attempt to have opinions contrary to proven facts despite being presented with evidence. And you will know my name is the Birdy, when I lay my satirical witticisms upon you.

Being afraid of plants IS a mental illness. When the illness progresses to the point that the patient becomes a threat to the safety of others (such as calling for people who like plants to be imprisoned), the patient can and should be involuntarily admitted to a mental health facility. This is clearly spelled out in the Mental Health Act.
