This time, Iron Maiden doesn't open Vancouver concert with "Aces High"

Whatever, Newton. If you can't even make the effort to at least know the name of the opening song, then you don't deserve the free ticket to write the review of a Maiden gig. Jagoff.

Awesome show! Having seen them way back in '84 (with Twisted Sister), '86 (with Motley Crue) and '87 (with pre-fame Guns 'n Roses), they haven't missed a step.

One thing that really impressed me was the professionalism of the security team. As body surfers neared the stage, the security staff didn't seem to perceive them as enemies of all that is good, but instead helped them down, got them on their feet and let them rejoin the crowd via aisles on either side of the floor crowd.

Great restraint and compassion, guys! Unusual but much appreciated!

I was one of the 20,000ish peeps at the Maiden show last night and unfortunately I have to say that was one of the most disappointing concerts I have seen in a while.
To start, Bruce...love the guy...but the first pause in the show was him pushing the new album. Then they proceeded to play mainly songs from their new or newer releases. Now, as a die hard Maiden fan, I will take a listen as I did with Live After Death. The odd good tune, but if it is good Maiden tunes fans will buy it...but do not shove the new tunes down our throats. It felt like we were a test audience to see how the newer songs would take. And within the hour they had lost the audience. People were sitting down and looking rather bored.
Next, the sound. Jesus..I am not sure as I know Bruce missed a few cues, especially in Hallowed Be Thy Name, but even the songs I did know...sounded bad. The aforementioned Hallowed Be Thy Name seem to fall off the tracks a few times and that left the audience looking around.
And finally, if you can believe it, there were boo's when Monty Python's "Always look on the bright side of life" came on. To be honest, playing that song, with a set list really tailored towards what the band wants to play instead of what the fans came to hear, felt like a kick in the ass. "We know you came to hear The Trooper, Run to the Hills, anything on Powerslave, but life’s a piece of shit, when you think of it!"
My first Maiden concert was on the PowerSlave tour. It was one great show. The show last night pales in comparison.

I don’t mean to criticize but according to the setlist they only played one song from the upcoming album. They seemed to have focused on their post reunion albums. After all it was 10 years since Bruce returned. Any diehard Maiden fan should know that.

I think the last 3 albums were excellent. Especially Brave New World.

I am definitely looking forward to this concert (I will be seeing them in TO.) I think it’s awesome that they are playing the newer material. There are many of the songs I haven’t heard before specially the Brave New World material.

Maiden has a way of making interesting set lists. I have seen them 4 times before. The set list was always different. With 15 albums spanning 30 years it’s hard to always please everyone. Maybe for the casual listener this wasn’t the best show. You should have been to the 2008 somewhere back in time tour.

Maiden is not some washed up radio rock band. They don’t have any mandatory radio songs that must be played. Van Halen can’t have a show without Jump and Poison can’t skip every rose has its thorn. Who’s gonna miss Run to the Hills if you have Running Free.

I don't know why some people are feeling let down by the concert, I thought it was great and I only went because my kids are into their music. I don't think it mattered that certain songs were not on the set list, it was still good and I enjoyed it.

No Aces High, 2 Minutes to Midnight OR Run to the Hills? That should be there full encore RIGHT THERE. But no. Not anywhere on the setlist. We have to listen to a bunch of songs we don't know. Great.

Worried Fan - A correction in your comment. "YOU" had to listen to a bunch of songs "YOU" didn't know, because YOU don't stay current with the band. Typical of a wannabe who claims Maiden is his favorite band a week before they come on tour and ignores what they do in between gigs here.

Don't speak for Iron Maiden fans who actually know their music. they played ONE new song from the New album, which was purposely released as a free download weeks before the show so people WOULD know it.

Face it, you can either keep up or sit back down.
