East Van headbangers 3 Inches of Blood help kick off the Mayhem Festival

Local old-school metal maniacs 3 Inches of Blood joined the likes of Rob Zombie, Korn, and Lamb of God at the opening date of the Mayhem Festival in San Bernardino, Calilfornia, on Saturday (July 10).

The band's personable vocalist Cam Pipes—who I chatted with last summer, alongside guitarist Shane Clark—was interviewed by Aniruddh "Andrew" Bansal of Metal Assault backstage after a performance at the San Manuel Amphitheater. Pipes pipes up about his main musical influence, Iron Maiden, and his love for the Powerslave album, in particular the songs "Aces High" and "Two Minutes to Midnight", which, unfortunately, Maiden didn't perform when it played here recently.

3 Inches of Blood is touring behind its latest album, Here Waits Thy Doom, which was originally released last September but reissued two weeks ago as a Mayhem Fest edition with four new tracks and a bonus DVD. Fans of the band can see it in action when the Mayhem Festival touches down at Washington State's White River Amphitheater tomorrow (July 13). You can find tickets here.
