Aerosmith's Joe Perry can't wait to taste Tojo's sushi in Van

Joe Perry's fondness for Vancouver has been well documented. Earlier this year, when he brought his solo group the Joe Perry Project here for a warmup gig with Motley Crue, he was going on about how he can't get enough of the place.

And he's still raving. When Perry called me today to chat about Aerosmith's upcoming Vancouver show the 59-year-old guitar hero couldn't stop raving about his favourite local restaurant, Tojo's.

"It wouldn ¹t be a stop in Vancouver if I didn't go there at least once," said Perry of the West Broadway sushi spot. Curious about what I should order if I ever make it to Tojo's myself, I quizzed the rocker about his favourite menu item, but it turns out he doesn't have one.

"I kinda like leave it up to him," Perry says of owner Hidekazu Tojo, "because he's very creative. Usually I'll sit down and he'll just let his imagination go wild and he'll put just bits and piece of things down in front of us. I won't know what he's doin', but it's always amazing. There's no other place like that--even in Japan."

Aerosmith will play the final night of its "Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock!" tour at Rogers Arena on Thursday, September 16. If they don't play "Draw the Line" I'm gonna be pissed.

Tojo's is overpriced and has poor service. They'll only live up to their inflated reputation if you're a celebrity.
