“One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art.”

The words of the great Oscar Wilde were alive and well at last night’s (September 29) Fiat Mode XXIII, where designers, stylist, and fashion lovers alike had a chance to check out the emerging talent in Vancouver’s fashion scene.

Twenty-one Vancouver Community College students showcased their graduating collections on the runway, and the Straight was there to capture the night.

I just like you to know that the long train on my opening collection was printed by an artist in Vienna, Austria.
Second look I made the fabric myself and then draped it. (The batic fabric.) I used real peacock feathers and Swarowski crystal. Third look was a fabric from Vietnam made into a theatre coat. The outfit underneath had three different silks that I shredded with a needle.
So all three looks had one of a kind fabric of this world. No-one can do the same look!
