Pembina Institute’s Amanda Pitre-Hayes named City of Vancouver sustainability director

The City of Vancouver has hired Amanda Pitre-Hayes as its director of sustainability.
Pitre-Hayes comes to the city from the sustainable-energy-focused Pembina Institute, where she worked as director of climate change consulting.
She previously managed climate change strategy for Vancity, and worked for Accenture and the Body Shop Canada.
A city press release issued today (October 18) says Pitre-Hayes holds a master’s degree in business administration and lives in East Vancouver.
According to its job posting, the position comes with a salary of $117,335 to $146,665, as well as an “excellent” benefits package.

If the Straight gets an opportunity to do an interview with her, it would be good to know her opinion on the Declaration of Rights for Mother Earth an whether she'll make a srtong stance for banning tanker traffic in Burrard Inlet.
If she's all about "sustainable growth" we can expect more of the status quo and the road to extinction I'm afaid.

We have a budget problem in this city and new hirings should not happen now. In fact we need to cut the numbers of non union admin staff, amalgamate some departments, cut senior staff wages, cut consultant expenditures by 50%, cut the legal department by 50% and cut the mayor's and the councillors salaries by 25% and the police chief's wage and the city manager's wage by 25%. This hiring is another example of this mayor and council's incompetence at fiscal management of this city.
