Mike Killeen and Tamara Taggart will be the new anchors of CTV News at Six.

On January 3, 2011, the pair will succeed Bill Good and Pamela Martin, who have anchored the program for almost a decade, CTV British Columbia announced today (December 8).

Taggart has worked as a CTV News weathercaster and cohosted Vancouver Breakfast.

"This opportunity is by far the most exciting challenge of my career,” Taggart said in a press release. “Vancouver is my hometown: to get to do this in the city I love is an honour. The best part is that I get to share this experience with Mike, who is not only a great journalist but a good friend.”

Killeen was CTV's Olympic reporter and is a former weekend anchor of CTV News at Six.

"Co-anchoring CTV NEWS AT SIX in my hometown is truly a privilege, something I've dreamed of since before broadcasting school,” Killeen said in the release. “I'm really excited to be anchoring with Tamara."

On Tuesday (December 7), CTV British Columbia announced Good and Martin will be leaving CTV News at Six at the end of the year.

According to the network, the "final new member" of its six-o'clock news show will be named in the coming days.

Hopefully the news will become less biased in favour of the FIBerals. Of course they don't write the script but please, a balanced newscast is preferrable or I won't watch this newscast either.

      What a releif...

Bill Good was way too ethnic, it is good to see some white people back in the saddle.

When you look at these two, are you confident they'll provide their viewers with an comprehensive analysis of the world around us?

BTW - does anyone still get their news from the TV?

I'm delighted that Tamara will be part of the CTV news team. When I lived on Van. Island I always tuned in to CTV and enjoyed Tamara's warmth and ability to make the news interesting. I'm sure they will be a great team.
      Congratulations to Tamara and Mike.
