Alex Cuba’s run of good luck this year shows no sign of slowing down. The singer and his trio have been touring North America, the U.K., and Germany since the release, to rave reviews, of the eponymous Alex Cuba, a tasty blend of Latin pop, jazz, and funk. Just weeks ago, he bagged a Latin Grammy as best new artist, and now the recording has earned a Grammy nomination for best Latin pop album.

At the time of the ceremony, the Cuban-born and Smithers, B.C.–based songwriter will be touring once again, but he’ll take a break to attend the event on February 13 in L.A., in case his name comes up. “We have shows booked solid, and we’re going to be in the area,” said Cuba, reached in a Miami club where he was opening for Nicaraguan salsa star Luis Enrique. “Soon after the Grammys, I’m off to Germany with the trio because the album is out there in February.”
