Basement Jaxx's "Dracula" blasts away the blasé

In a description we’re pretty sure wasn’t okayed by Jimmy Wales, Stephenie Meyer, as of this morning, was “unfortunately still alive” and a “stupid bitch” according to her Wikipedia link on Google. While we may not wish a tormented death on the Twilight series creator, we’re not happy that we can never watch Near Dark or The Lost Boys the same way again. There used to be a time when we could listen to “Vampira” by the Misfits with satisfaction but that was ruined too, by Meyer’s weak metrosexual reinvention of coffin dwellers that makes Count Chocula look like a cold-blooded killer.

Fortunately for us, Basement Jaxx is kicking back against the Twilight-tainting of our favourite Transylvanians with the best bloodsucking single since Bram Stoker wrote the book on the bastards. “Dracula” is a dark, distorted house beat that blasts away the blasé. For added effect, check out the black and white Nosferatu scenes in the background. We haven’t heard a marriage of music and visuals this deadly since New Order’s “Confusion” was featured in Blade’s blood-rave scene.

Suck on that you soap-opera loving succubus.
