Dr. Dre gets epic in new video for "Kush"

Andre Young (aka Dr. Dre) just released a new Michael Mann-worthy video for “Kush”, the first single off the forever-forthcoming Detox. Snoop Dogg and Akon join the king of chronic in the best use of freeze-framing we’ve seen since The Matrix.

The boys “puff, puff, pass” their way through streetracers, money-filled airplanes, and a bustling bar, all of which seem to be as frozen as Randy Quaid’s assets. Luckily Dre sets them free via the fire alarm, letting the clubbing cuties dance in the sprinklers to their skimpy hearts’ delight.

While “Kush” is catchy enough to keep the fake-tanned/titted discotheque denizens dancing , it’s hard to say if Detox will satisfy our Chronic obsession. At least Dre and Snoop are keeping the game consistent. After all, what would a hip-hop clip be without booty, bud, and a billion dollars worth of special effects? After nine years, it’s a relief to see that Young’s “Still D.R.E”.
