More than a month after the B.C. New Democrats elect a new leader and three months after the B.C. Liberals crown the province’s next premier, the B.C Conservatives are set to also find new leadership.

The B.C. Conservative Party has scheduled its leadership convention for May 28. It will take place somewhere in the Fraser Valley or Lower Mainland.

The B.C. Conservatives have been leaderless since Wilf Hanni resigned in June 2009, citing infighting on the party’s board of directors.

Their party faces competition from the fledgling B.C. First Party, whose spokesperson is former B.C. Conservative deputy leader Chris Delaney.

According to a party press release, prospective leadership candidates will be able to file their applications between March 1 and 29.

British Columbians will have until May 7, 21 days before the convention, to join the party and be eligible to vote in the leadership contest.

Ballots will be mailed to members at least 15 days before the convention. Members will then send them back by post or deliver them to the convention.

The B.C. Liberals are slated to hold their leadership vote on February 26.

The B.C. NDP’s leadership ballot is set for April 17.
