NDP caucus chair Shane Simpson backs leadership contender John Horgan

Vancouver-Hastings MLA and NDP caucus chair Shane Simpson has thrown his support behind the leadership bid of Juan de Fuca NDP MLA John Horgan.

“John has the vision and deeply-held values necessary to advance equality in British Columbia, and to build the type of province where all our citizens can prosper and have the chance to meet their potential,” said Simpson in a news release the Horgan team issued today (April 11). “As New Democrats, we are at a critical juncture where we are not only electing a new leader but I believe choosing the next premier. That is a job of great opportunity, challenge, and complexity. It requires a balance of skills, commitment, values, and pragmatism.”

Simpson claimed Horgan has demonstrated those traits during the two terms they have both been MLAs, having both been elected in 2005 and re-elected in 2009.

I'm not an NDPer. I don't care about Party labels anymore. They are next to meaningless as a basis to put support behind.

It's all about the candidate & what he/she brings to the betterment of British Columbians lives.

If I could, my vote would in a heart beat go to JOHN HORGAN - he's impressive on all counts.

Christy Clark had 1 token MLA supporting her which speaks volumes about her peers lack of support. Is this the mark of a Leader?

Having the Caucus Chair, Mr. Simpson's public endorsement bodes well for Horgan's taking the helm of the Premier's Office. He'll have all hands on deck as he brings decency and vision to the BC Govt for everyone's best interests.
