Maybe dropping "slut bomb" in that concert review was a bad idea

You hire Arnold Schwarzenegger to work out the music section’s marriage problems, and we reward you with a Payback Time T-shirt and two tickets to a Live Nation club show of your choice taking place in Vancouver within the next four weeks. Here’s this week’s winning whinge.

Dear Payback Time: While your reviews, Adrian Mack, are occasionally amusing, I must ask what you were thinking when you shared your views on the recent Fleet Foxes show! Bitter? Ornery? Or just uninformed? I’m sure that you’d hesitate before typing some other pejorative bon mots, but it appears that dropping a “slut bomb” is still legitimate in your books.

Adrian Mack replies: Dearest Sarah—Let me tell you that I actually hesitated long and hard about dropping the “slut bomb” in that review, and I’m still sitting here hesitating two weeks after it was published. I suppose I could put it down to the late hour and chemically impaired judgment, but we both know I’d be weaselling out of the issue. I was actually hoping that anyone who cared would also see the reference to “asshole stockbroker types” and infer a larger indictment of a socio-economic structure that victimizes everybody—even those furiously rutting clichés who walk among us with their orange skin and Ermenegildo Zegna suits (whether they realize it or not). But I fully concede that cheap yucks and incendiary language was maybe not the way to go. Especially when I look at the comments on Straight.com and see the amount of tooth-grindingly stupid rage incited among the no-comprende boneheads over something as righteous as the recent SlutWalk. Or mea culpa, in other words. Could I possibly just put this down to the late hour and chemically impaired”¦ ? Okay, forget it.

You can voice your impotent rage by snail mail or by sending an e-mail to payback@straight.com

Sluts know they are sluts and are usually the first to admit to it. A slut is a slut is a slut and that includes male sluts. Maybe use the term "loose women" next time, y'know, take us back to 1949. That would be awesome.

Thanks a lot public schools, now we have multiple generations of emotionally hyper-delicate fucks who think they have the "right" not to be offended by ideas and words.

So Adreary Hack ruefully admits that using slut (ooooohhhh, so edgy!) was inappropriate considering the climate of the time. However, he totally weasels out on actually apologizing, instead trying to blow it off and claim, "Look dude, i was so freakin' high when i tossed that piece off. 'Cause that's how i roll. 'cause that's how talented i am. i get all high and just write whatever i want. It's so cool. i'm so cool. i'm just like Burroughs and Thompson, that's how cool... Yeah."
How loathsome. This writer probably loves Odd Future too.
