Terminal City Rollergirls to collide with Washington teams in PNE Forum doubleheader
Last month, the Terminal City Rollergirls achieved a milestone of sorts when they brought women’s flat-track roller derby to Vancouver’s PNE Forum for the first time.
During that outing, the Terminal City All-Stars steamrolled the Heartless Heathers, visiting from Portland, by a score of 170-58.
On June 11, roller derby is coming back to the PNE Forum, and this time it’ll be a cross-border doubleheader featuring competitors from Washington state.
Vancouver’s Bad Reputations will face the Taco Kickers from Everett, and the hometown Riot Girls will tackle Tacoma’s Dockyard Derby Dames.
Advance tickets ($17 for adults, $10 for kids ages six to 12, free for kids under six) are available at Flaming Angels (4307 Main Street) and Ticketmaster. Tickets will also be sold at the door ($23.50 for adults, other prices the same).
The doors will open at 5 p.m., and the action will get underway at 6 p.m.
While we're on the subject of roller derby, check out this short documentary on the Nanaimo Nemesis Roller Girls, from across the strait.
On July 2 and 3, the Nemesis will host the first annual Vancouver Island Rookie Roller Derby Tournament, featuring teams from the island and the mainland.
