A letter of apology from a Stanley Cup rioter?

    1 of 1 2 of 1

A Facebook user is apologizing to Vancouver, his family, and his friends for the part he supposedly played in the Stanley Cup riot.

Tim Kwong, who is reportedly 29, is identified as being from Burnaby.

Here's his seemingly heartfelt but spelling-challenged Facebook apology:

Must be doing poorly in English. The grammar in this letter is truly atrocious!

"The man, who we won't name here because he may be a minor, is identified as being from Burnaby."

Don't need to; it's in the URL ;)

Apology not accepted. He was not drunk but conscious when he planned to drive a car to downtown with the sole intention to set it on fire. Lame attempt from his family's lawyer to soothe the case.

This apology will not be in Vancouver's history. The riot you were part of will be. I hope you learn from your mistakes and feel the full force of the law. You will pay for your actions in a court of law, and I hope in the future you repay your country back for the shame you have caused it.

YOU AND LIKE ALL THE RIOTERS SHOULD BE SHACKLED AT THE ANKLES AND PARADED THROUGH GEORGIA STREET AND THE REST OF DOWNTOWN AND RECEIVE THE ALL THE HUMILIATION YOU GET. YOU DESERVE EVERYTHING THAT IS COMING TO YOU. ALL GOOD TAXPAYERS HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR DAMAGES, LET ALONE THE STRESS AND THE HARD WORK THE CITY DID MOMENTS AFTER AND THE HUNDREDS TO THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEERS LIKE MYSELF WHO RETURNED HOURS LATER IN THE MORNING TO CLEAN UP YOUR MESS. YOU AND THOSE DETAINED/ARRESTED DO NOT DESERVE THOSE JERSEYS YOU PUT ON AND PUT SHAME TO OUR CANUCKS - I BET THE THOUGHT OF LOSING THE CUP LEFT THEIR MINDS THE MOMENT YOU GUYS BEGAN THE MADNESS.

Actions speak louder then words... At least whomever this is owned up and is not hiding like some coward. I hope that justice is served quick and to the fullest extent. I still have a hard time forgiving for such pure idiocy but I am sure over time the harm caused will heal. It is a step in the right direction.

Whether we like it or not this person will have to be back in society once they pay their due with the law. Personally, I would rather they begin the healing process and learn a huge lesson. We are allowed second chances and I for one have no problem forgiving the people who own up to their decision to take part and pay the consequence.

This is just my personal view.

I would like every rotten brat who participated in trashing downtown and looting the retail stores rounded up, forced to wear uniforms branded "I am doing time for disgracing Vancouver" and forced to do public service every weekend in the DTES for a year. If they think they're entitled, they should learn a lesson in humiliation.

I got a feeling his parents saw what he did and opened up the riot act on him, good for them if that's the case.
