PNE opens on a weekend with lots of entertainment options

There was no excuse to sit at home today. For families, there was the grand opening of the PNE at Hastings Park. Fans of indie music had the LIVE at Squamish festival to enjoy. Horror-film junkies could enjoy the Zombie Walk. And the Vancouver Queer Film Festival was offering the widely praised feature documentary Queer Crusaders, which was directed by Mike Skiff.

There's also a spectacular new library opening soon in Surrey, which is designed by Bing Thom Architects.

Most of these activities are affordable and they are in addition to all the regular entertainment fare, the beaches, the cycling, the Grouse Grind, and everything else this region has to offer.

Metro Vancouver is an embarrassment of riches...apart from those damn housing prices.
