Today's Occupy Wall Street news: Roseanne Barr addresses protesters; at least six arrests made

Comedian Roseanne Barr showed up on the streets of New York City yesterday (September 18) to address a leaderless group of citizens who have gathered to protest the global capitalist system and who are demanding electoral reform.

Today's reports (again, primarily via Twitter, which seems to be the main voice of the action) say the group of protesters has dwindled to around 200. According to the New York Times City News blog, at least six protesters were arrested this morning.

As well, Zuccotti Park, the primary gathering place, has been renamed Liberty Plaza by the protesters, who referred to themselves as the "general assembly". At this time, there are no plans by the group to leave the area.

The mainstream media, which has been incredibly slow to pick up the story, is starting to report on the action. The Guardian put out an article today praising the action and pointing out that the unrest on Wall Street is something felt around the world.

I have more respect for Celebrities when they are willing to aid on the side of what is just and right. We need more of the privileged in society to stand up! Amen Roseanne!
