Occupy Wall Street Day 4: NYPD swoops in, more arrests made, is Yahoo blocking protesters' emails?

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Day Four (September 20) of the #OccupyWallStreet action in New York City saw police descend on the peaceful group of protesters early in the morning.

Reports from Twitter indicate that the NYPD arrived at Zuccotti Park (aka Liberty Square) amid rainy skies around 7 a.m. EST (or maybe 7:30 a.m.; there is a serious lack of information going on) and began dismantling the tents and tarps that had been set up by the general assembly of protesters.

At least five demonstrators were arrested this morning, some for the egregious crime of holding up tarps. OccupyWallSt.org has this report on the arrests.

The first arrest was a protester who objected to the police removing a tarp that was protecting our media equipment from the rain. The police said that the tarp constituted a tent, in spite of it not being a habitat in any way. Police continued pressuring protesters with extralegal tactics, saying that a protester on a bullhorn was breaking a law. The protester refused to cease exercising his first amendment rights and was also arrested. Then the police began to indiscriminately attempt to arrest protesters, many of them unsheathed their batons, in spite of the fact that the protest remained peaceful.

The video below captures the arrests of a couple of protesters, including a man named Jason Ahmadi, who was dragged from the scene by police.

Justin Wedes was arrested as well—for speaking through a megaphone. Well, unless those chaps in uniforms were actually the fashion police and arrested him for those glasses he's wearing.

Protesters are urged to remain calm and not respond to any police actions with violence.

Think Progress is reporting that Yahoo may be blocking emails that contain the link to Occupy Wall Street's website. See video below.

And where's the mainstream media on all of this? Asleep at the wheel as far as I can tell. The biggest Wall Street news on Google right now is about hamburgers.

It's not alright to protest in your own back yard but in other countries they send in the military to back the protesters up with force. Two sets of rules
one for us and then another for that will bring dollars and oil into our banks.

derp, you are exactly right --- and for the following reason:

This minor step of "Occupying Wall Street" is really just the first step in "The Coming Insurrection" [Negri] or the global revolution "Against Empire" [Parenti]:

Naturally, there is little media coverage by the ruling global corporate/financial/militarist Empire which now controls our former country by hiding behind the facade of its 'bought and owned' TWO-Party modernized "Vichy" sham of faux-democratic government --- just as the Nazi Empire when it was trying to control Europe and the world installed its crude, first-generation, single-party "Vichy" facade of government in Vichy France c. 1940.

What is starting to happen today in this uncoordinated 'Occupy Wall Street' protest in the US, which is the nominal and temporary headquarters of this entirely new scale of post-nation-state global Empire, is the beginning of what could quickly become a Second American (and world) Revolution "Against Empire" [Michael Parenti] --- and that naturally scares the hidden, well disguised, and generally undiagnosed global corporate/financial/militarist EMPIRE to death --- and thus they (the global Empire) will use all power in their hands; political, media, money, and ultimately military, to crush this nascent, if improperly named revolution "Against Empire"

Network Solutions Using Cloudmark - Same Censorship Software Used in China - To Block Occupy Wall Street Emails

Network Solutions (one of America's largest Internet Service Providers) is using Cloudmark, the same "spam filter" used for Internet censorship in China...

      http://tinyurl.com/3b5ct4r

...to block emails referencing URLs (links) related to the "Occupy Wall Street" and "U.S. Day of Rage" events. Here is an example of one such email, which was sent but never delivered:

Why is Network Solutions blocking legitimate political emails like this one? I don't know for sure, but tracing their origin, history and ownership is something I recommend for all who oppose the Kleptocracy:

And we all know who Big Brother answers to, so why should we expect less from an ISP founded by spooks?

Start by boycotting any company having anything to do with this (alleged) censorship, than boycott any companies doing business with them. I am sure the geeks out there that support this protest will find a way around these filters. maybe change the name of the web sites??? Good luck!
