Circus of Disaster at the Stanley Park Hallowe’en Ghost Train

Mortal Coil Performance Society’s creepily brilliant Circus of Disaster at the Stanley Park Hallowe’en Ghost Train is one of the strongest—and freakiest—installations the event has ever seen. Set to a warped, carnivalesque soundscape, the ride is a trip into an awesomely twisted fun house populated by elaborate skeleton tightrope-walkers, zombie ringleaders, and Pennywise doppelgängers that keep popping out of the forest. Among the highlights: beasts that have broken out of wrecked circus cars and a knife thrower with the aim of a bombed Steve Wonder. It’s inspired, but will probably scare the bejesus out of kids under five. Unless, of course, their all-time favourite movie scene happens to be when the clown comes to life in Poltergeist.
