Photos: Day of Purple to End Homophobic Bullying Vigil 2011

      Over 100 people, wearing purple articles of clothing and carrying purple candles, congregated at Emery Barnes Park in downtown Vancouver on Thursday (October 20) evening. The candelight vigil was part of the Day of Purple, which began with Mayor Gregor Robertson officially proclaiming the day as Purple Shirt Day. The day commemorates LGBT youth who have committed suicide due to homophobic or transphobic bullying.

      Attendees listened to speeches from youth, politicians, and more for over an hour.
