Bill Yuen: NPA council will bring fiscally responsible government back to Vancouver

    1 of 1 2 of 1

      I was elected as a school board trustee in 1996 and 1999. I also held public service positions as chair of the Employment Insurance Appeal Board, chair of the special advisory committee with the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development, returning officer with Elections Canada, and member of the Regional Transition Council with the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

      As a long-term resident of Vancouver for over 20 years, I have been passionate about volunteering in local community centres, neighbourhood houses, parent advisory committees, hospital foundations, public libraries, and with the crime prevention centre. If elected under an NPA council, the property tax will be in control, meaningful neighbourhood consultation will be on track, and fiscally responsible government and public safety will be back in order. I strongly believe the NPA team will provide public services for all of Vancouver—not just a few.

      I promise that I will work hard to:

      • Hold the line on taxes below inflation;

      • Streamline the city’s services;

      • Improve the business climate to attract small and medium-size businesses that create jobs;

      • Have an open book policy and be a fiscally accountable government.

      With your help, we can make a difference on November 19.

      Thank you.

      Bill Yuen, a professional engineer and former school trustee, is a Non Partisan Association candidate for Vancouver city council.

      Sounds good but look at you party's record.
      $25,000,000 for Olympic spending, $23,000,000 for an expensive 311 not needed information line. Millions spent on consultants, beginning of the Olympic funding fiasco, rising taxes, increasing business taxes, and no fiscal policy or plan for the long term.
      Let us know sir what you will do to decrease waste at city hall, balance property and business taxes, fund the four pillars program, the arts, housing and treatment for the homeless, end the fiscal year without a deficit. In short, like I said tell us how not only what.

      The idea of the NPA bringing "fiscal responsibility" given your very recent track record is laughable. I suggest attempting to campaign with your eyes open to your party's history - this kind of statement simply makes you look foolish.

      I would like to here more specifics about Bill Yuen's policies, but I am not so quick to tar him with the NPA brush. We need diversity on council and much of what he says makes sense. I would like to know where he stands on (i) bike lanes, (ii) the casino, (iii) mega projects and (iv) what he concrete steps he thinks the city can take on affordability. And homelessness is a real issue in Vancouver, so thoughts on that would also be appreciated.

      Amazing the Neo Cons Right Wing Corporate Welfare Pro Business types will make any outrageous claim.

      Fiscally Responsible like

      - "W"

      - the Lie-Berals

      - and now the NPA

      All of whom presided over the greatest Boondoggle in BC History...

      * The OWE-lympics Billions so much I can't keep track

      * The 999 Year "Lease" of BC Rail,

      * there should be a law that limits Politicians & Crown Corps from entering Contracts on behalf of the People beyond their Elected Term!

      * False Creek Billion Dollar Condos

      * Bail out of a New York Hedge Funds interest in False Creek

      * Free Land give away at False Creek Condos to the Developer

      * A Fucking $565 Million Tarp Roof that Leaks :)

      If BC and/or Vancouver Voters put them back in Office than we deserve more of the same.

      Fool me once shame on you Fool me twice shame on me/us BC.
