Vancouver police have recommended charges against 60 people in relation to the June 15 riot.

A total of 163 charges have been forwarded to the Crown, including participating in a riot, mischief, break and enter, and assault.

“On the night of June 15th, thousands of people committed criminal acts, destroying property, stealing property, and assaulting those who got in their way,” said Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu in a statement. “It became, by many measures, the largest crime spree in the history of B.C. The statistics are staggering and continue to grow.”

Of the 60 alleged rioters, 50 are men and 10 are women, and the average age is 21 years old.

Chu said police have “tagged” over 15,000 criminal acts and suspected rioters in their video footage of the riot.

The police chief called the recommended charges, the first to be announced in relation to the riot, “just the beginning”, and said more arrests will be announced in the coming weeks and months.

I wonder if Mr Police Chief Jim Chu is on commission? Or does more charges mean a bonus? There's so many ways he could be benefiting from this...
