Young stylists and local designs take the spotlight at Theorem Nouveau

Students of John Casablancas Insitute’s fashion program will be hosting a fashion show to raise money for Covenant House Foundation on March 20 at 6:30 p.m. The show, called Theorem Nouveau, takes place at Performance Works (1218 Cartwright Street) on Granville Island, and highlights students as fashion stylists and event producers.

The show will feature clothing from local retailers Body Politic, Obakki, and Gypsy Market Vintage. Body Politic (208 East 12th Avenue) carries independent designers with a focus on sustainable, environmentally friendly clothing that doesn’t sacrifice on style. Meanwhile, Obakki, which recently closed its Gastown flagship store but is still available at Moule (1994 West 4th Avenue / 2016 Park Royal Mall South, West Vancouver) and online, is a Vancouver-based design house specializing in dreamy, high-end clothing for women. Lastly, Gypsy Market Vintage, is a continuously rotating collection of vintage wares curated by East Vancouver’s Sarah La Greca. Gypsy Market currently runs a pop-up show in the loft space at One of Few (354 Water Street).

Along with a fashion show, Theorem Nouveau will include a silent auction, with items donated by downtown women’s boutique Blubird (1055 Alberni Street), local shoe designer John Fluevog (65 Water Street / 837 Granville Street), Soirette Macarons and Tea (1433 West Pender Street), and more.

Tickets to Theorem Nouveau are $20 in advance (purchased from the John Casablancas Institute by calling 604-688-0328) and $25 at the door. All net proceeds will be donated to the Covenant House Foundation.
