Who run the world? To paraphrase Beyoncé, South Asian girls, of course.

And two local women from the Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration Society are out to prove that.

Photographer, publicist, and former TV host Sukhi Ghuman and business coach Manpreet Dhillon are launching a networking organization for South Asian professional women in Vancouver.

The Be Your Own Best Friend Network will help South Asian women build partnerships, meet suppliers, sell products, learn from workshops, and more.

“BYOBF Network is geared towards women in home-based businesses, in offices, entrepreneurs, mothers, and those exploring new opportunities,” Ghuman stated in a news release.

An online community will be created for members to publish blog posts about lifestyle, health, money, spirituality, mothering, and more.

The official launch will take place at the first networking event on Thursday (March 29) at 8 p.m. at Ginger 62 (1219 Granville Street). Tickets are $25 and aren't available at the door but can be purchased online. But your ticket does include admission to High Society's annual bhangra and Bollywood dance party, which will follow right afterwards.
