In South Africa, “ubuntu” refers to the spirit of community and the belief that humans are all connected. Theatrefront presents UBUNTU (The Cape Town Project) at the Firehall Arts Centre (280 East Cordova Street) from April 12 to 21.

This international collaboration between Canadian and South African artists tells the tale of a man and a woman drawn together by the secrets of their pasts. UBUNTU (The Cape Town Project) searches for what ties every one of us to the past, present, and future.

UBUNTU (The Cape Town Project) is directed by Daryl Cloran, with set design by Lorenzo Savoini, costume design by Gillian Gallow, lighting design by Gerald King, sound design by Christian Barry, and choreography by Nova Bhattacharya. The production features Eric Goulem, Mbulelo Grootboom, Andile Nebulane, Tracey Power, and Stacie Steadman.

Performances of UBUNTU (The Cape Town Project) start at 8 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays, 2 p.m. for Saturday and Sunday matinees, and 1 p.m. for Wednesday matinees. Tickets are available through the Firehall Arts Centre box office at 604-689-0926 and online.
